Zac Brown Band has been forced to cancel numerous concerts on their “The Comeback Tour” after the band’s lead singer announced he tested positive for COVID-19 “despite taking precautions,” as he wrote on the band’s Twitter page.
Zac Brown Band’s next scheduled show had been set for DTE Energy Music Theatre in Clarkston, Michigan on Thursday, September 30. The band also cancelled upcoming concerts in Burgettstown, PA, Syracuse, NY and Saratoga Springs, NY scheduled for October 1, 2 and 3.
“I am deeply disappointed this has happened as touring is our life and performing live for our fans is the best part of our job,” Brown wrote on Twitter. “The bottom line is that I want to take every precaution to put the health and safety of our fans and crew first.”
There’s no word on whether these concerts will be rescheduled, but it does not appear that will be the case as they have been cancelled and not postponed. Fans can obtain ticket refunds via their point of purchase.
“We will resume the tour as soon as I have finished the CDC-mandated quarantine and it is safe for our band members and crew to do so,” Brown added. “I am grateful to our fans for understanding this decision, as well as everyone on the front lines who can’t stay at home because their work is essential. I believe we can all overcome this together. As soon as we can, we’ll see you back out on the road again.”
Zac Brown Band’s first show after the four cancelled ones is in Jacksonville on October 8, followed by West Palm Beach on the 9th and Tampa on the 10th. They will then head to North Carolina, Tennessee and Georgia before wrapping up the tour in South Dakota on the 21st of November.
