Demi Lovato feels 'survivor's guilt' after DMX's overdose - Page Six

Demi Lovato says DMX’s recent overdose is giving her “survivor’s guilt” after she nearly died in 2018 from drugs.

The “X Gon’ Give It to Ya” rapper, 50, has been on life support and in a “vegetative state” since last week after overdosing on drugs and suffering a heart attack.

“Any time I see someone OD or pass away that’s in the public eye I immediately think, ‘That could have been you had you not been putting all this work into the last couple of years of your life,'” Lovato says in an interview with “TMZ Live” airing on Wednesday.

“There’s times I’ve felt, like, feeling survivor’s guilt. You do ask yourself, ‘Why am I still here, why are others not?’ It’s challenging. I have to realize that every day is a day that someone else doesn’t get.”

The “Dancing With the Devil” singer — who overdosed in July 2018 after smoking heroin and also ingesting fentanyl-laced oxycodone — now counts her blessings “every day I am here on this earth.”

“It makes me want to live the best life I can possibly have knowing others didn’t get the chance,” she says.

Hundreds of people turned up Tuesday to hold a prayer vigil for DMX, whose real name is Earl Simmons, at White Plains Hospital. Some of his 15 kids were among the visitors allowed inside the ICU there to say their “final goodbye” to him.

“We ask that you please keep Earl/DMX and us in your thoughts, wishes, and prayers as well as respect our privacy as we face these challenges,” the family said in a statement to People.

In 2016, DMX suffered a near-fatal overdose in the parking lot of a Westchester hotel, where medics gave him Narcan to save his life.
